Our Science-a-Thon was held today and students had the opportunity to predict, experiment and evaluate a range of science experiments.
Everyone got involved it was great to see so many mad scientists around the school. Run by Fizzics Education, students had the opportunity to bet hands on. with gigantic bubbles, flying toilet paper, hair-raising electricity experiments, levitating beach balls, volunteers on a nail chair, a giant gyroscope, fire balls, coloured shadows, a flame equaliser and much more!
Students were immersed in the real scientific process! Students were introduced to a variety of core scientific principles:
- forming a hypothesis
- identifying variables
- fair testing
- experimental design and reporting
- critical thinking and problem solving
Fizzics Education comprises a talented group of science education professionals dedicated to delivering high quality science workshops and shows in any situation, reaching >300,000 kids per year since 2004.

We had our first House Sport Championship game for 2025. This term our sport is Basketball. The year 6 Sports Leaders are running the competition while our Technology Leaders are providing the music and commentary. The games will be held during recess time for the remainder of the term. All students are encouraged to cheer on their team as well as sing and dance to the tunes.

Year 6 have thoroughly enjoyed their first day of camp and are onto day two 🏕️ Some of the things the children had been busy doing yesterday were the giant swing, flying fox and archery 🏹 Everyone had a good night’s sleep 😴 Today they’ll be busy rock climbing and then after a delicious lunch well all be on our way home!

Commitment to Close the Gap clear for Western Sydney Catholic schools
Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese (CSPD) has released its first annual Closing the Gap report. This report outlines its contribution to improving socio-economic outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, particularly students and their families. CSPD Chief Executive Officer Jack de Groot said the report reflects the dedication of CSPD’s 6 500 staff in fostering reconciliation and equity through the organisation’s 80 outstanding school across Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains.

Our amazing St Francis students had a fantastic day competing at the 2025 Blacktown Zone Swimming Carnival, demonstrating exceptional effort and sportsmanship competing against several other schools. Congratulations and well done to the following students who have qualified to represent the Blacktown Zone at the 2025 Parramatta Diocesan Carnival. Kinder to Year 5 students will be having a Water Fun day on Tuesday 17th December. Students will rotate and participate in a range of fun water and dry activities from Water Relays, Bucket Splash, Water Dodgeball, and a Slip n Slide. WHERE: School Grounds WHEN: Tuesday 17th December 2024 TIME: Infants: 9:10 am till 11:00 am Primary: 11:40 am till 1:00 pm After the activities the students will go back into class for the rest of the day. WHAT TO WEAR: SPORTSWEAR MUFTI , with swimwear worn to school underneath. Sports shoes/thongs/sandals. WHAT TO BRING: Students are to bring their school bag to school as normal with their recess, lunch, hat and drink bottle. A dry towel, goggles (if needed), dry underwear in a clearly labelled bag (large enough to put their wet things in after water activities).
