On Friday 4th July, St Francis marked NAIDOC Week with a very special guest — Telaya Blacksmith, a proud Walpiri teenager, Paralympian athlete, and AFL player. Telaya grew up in the remote Northern Territory community of Lajamanu and now lives in Sydney, where she attends Endeavour Sports High School in Penrith. She has proudly represented Australia twice on the international stage, most recently at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris. Our school community gave Telaya a warm welcome, with students flocking around her as she arrived. Throughout the day, Telaya led a series of engaging sessions where she shared her story — how her dream of becoming an athlete began, and the importance of the strong support network that has helped her along the way. Students were inspired as Telaya showcased her incredible collection of medals and trophies. She answered questions from the students, covering everything from her favourite meals and hobbies to the importance of positive self-talk in sport and life. The day concluded with the presentation of Age Champions from our recent Athletics Carnival — a proud moment made even more memorable as students received their awards from Telaya herself. The celebration wrapped up with a staff vs. student relay on the basketball court and a fun game of Kick Nukem Ball, bringing plenty of laughs and showcasing our vibrant SFA spirit! Exciting News! Over the school holidays, Telaya announced she has been selected to represent Australia at the World Para Athletics Championships in India, competing in the 400m and Long Jump. Grandparents’ Day is almost here and so is our Book Fair! We’re so excited to welcome you all on Wednesday, 30th July at 9:15am for a special Grandparents’ Day Celebration filled with love, laughter, and lots of smiles. The fun continues with our Book Character Parade and a picnic-style morning tea. A perfect way to share stories, snacks, and precious moments with the people we adore most. P.S. Don’t forget... we’ll all be hitting the dance floor for the YMCA! We can’t wait to celebrate with our favourite people — you! Calling all Grandparents, Mums, Dads and Carers! We need YOU to join in the fun! Dust off those dancing shoes and get ready to boogie. We’re learning the YMCA in the lead-up to Grandparent’s Day on Wednesday 30th July and we'd like you to learn it too. On Friday 27th June Kindergarten went to Calmsley Hill Farm for their excursion. Kindergarten students have been learning about living things in Science. They have been discussing what a living thing needs to survive and what living things give us. Kindy were able to milk a cow, pat a chick, duckling and a rabbit as well as go for a ride on the tractor. After lunch the students were able to watch a whip show, dog show and a shearing show to finish the day. All the students and teachers had a great day.

Our Stage 3 boys showed incredible teamwork and skill at the recent Soccer Gala Day! They dominated most of their matches and played with heart, just missing out on a top result. More importantly, it was an awesome day full of fun, great sportsmanship, and support from students, staff and proud families on the sidelines. 👏 Well done, boys!! 💪💪.

Last week some Stage Two students participated in the Soccer Gala Day in Penrith! Although the day started with a rain shower, it ended with blue skies that matched our high spirits! All students participated with determination, worked as a team and had fun while doing it. Thank you to all family members who attended to help make our day as great as it was.
